Meet Jeff
My campaign motto is "Respect our Past, Protect our Future". This means I will do all in my power to protect what I call the Soul of Morro Bay: all the qualities that make our little beach town the special place it is. And while honoring our past, I am committed to working hard to create a healthy, thriving community both today and for the future.
As a long time resident I have given my time and energy to make our town a better place. Here are some of the many committees, boards, or service organizations I have served on:
- Served on the PTA Board of Directors as Treasurer at Del Mar Elementary when my kids were there. They then went on to LOMS and Morro Bay High.
- Coached soccer and basketball in our Youth Recreation league when my kids were young (My twins, a boy and a girl, are now 21).
- Board of Directors and Chairperson of the Estero Bay Foundation, helping our youth participate in after-school sports regardless of financial resources.
- Chairman of the Harbor Advisory Board on which I served four years.
- Founding member of our local radio station, 97.3 The Rock.
- Founding Chairperson of the non-profit Morro Bay 4th in the late 2000's, the organization that hosted the 4th of July and founded the family-friendly Bike Parade.
- Board of Directors and Chairperson of Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce
- Multiple Economic Advisory Groups, including the City Manager's Blue Ribbon Finance Committee during the Pandemic.
I worked my way through college to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Long Beach State University, which, combined with my extensive background in finance and economic analysis, has prepared me to tackle our city's economic challenges. I've been a small business owner most of my life- I founded the Morro Bay House of Jerky and recently sold the shop to a young local couple after 13 successful years on the waterfront. In addition, I am a US Coast Guard 100 ton licensed Boat Captain and skippered the Papagallo Motor Yacht and the Chablis Charter boat. I've spent years on the waterfront and am intimately familiar with our harbor.
With extensive knowledge of housing policy at both the local and state levels, and having served on numerous county work groups focused on Affordable Housing, I bring a wealth of housing-related experience to the table. As the CEO of the San Luis Obispo County Housing Trust Fund, a non-profit lender dedicated to Affordable Housing development, I am committed to leveraging my expertise on the council to advocate for more affordable and appropriately scaled housing in our community.
I care deeply about our community, and service is in my DNA. It would be an honor to represent you on the city council, and I respectfully ask for your vote.
